How It Works

Our office reviews claims from the documents you send. The fastest way to get your claim reviewed is to complete the secure form below. You do not need to call.

1

Submit your claim

Fill out the secure form on this page and upload your policy, insurance company letters, and photos. Send each claim only once.

2

We review it

We review submissions in the order we receive them. If we need anything else, we will email you. The review is free.

3

Sign the agreement

If we can help, you will receive our Legal Services Agreement by email through Smokeball, with a plain-language explanation. Every owner of the property signs from a phone or computer.

4

We handle the insurer

We deal with the insurance company for you, have an independent estimator inspect and document your damage, and push for full payment. If the company still will not pay, we can take it to court.

What to Gather

Send what you have. Do not hold everything back because one item is missing.

  • Your insurance policy and declarations page
  • Every letter and email from the insurance company
  • Your claim number, date of loss, and adjuster’s contact information
  • Any estimates from the insurance company, a contractor, roofer, or restoration company
  • Photos and videos of the damage, inside and outside
  • Receipts for tarps, water removal, drying, and other emergency repairs
  • Copies of any checks the insurance company issued
  • Any contract you signed with a public adjuster, contractor, or restoration company
  • Your mortgage company and loan number, if any

Protect Your Claim While You Decide

Prevent more damage

Make reasonable temporary repairs such as tarps, fans, and drying wet areas. Photograph the damage first and save every receipt.

Do not sign anything

Do not sign a release, settlement paper, or anything that says a payment is “full and final” until a lawyer has reviewed it.

Do not ignore the insurer

If the insurance company asks for a recorded statement, an inspection, documents, or an examination under oath, tell us right away, before it happens.

Keep your policy in force

Keep paying your premium. Do not post about your claim, your damage, or your insurance company on social media.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to hire your office?

The review of your claim is free. If we take your claim, we work on a contingency fee: no retainer, no hourly bill, and nothing out of pocket. Our fee is a percentage of the money we recover for you, and the percentage is lower when the claim resolves at an earlier stage. If there is no recovery, you owe no fee. The exact terms are in the Legal Services Agreement and the plain-language letter that comes with it.

Do you take a fee on the insurance company’s first payment?

No. Our office takes no fee on the insurance company’s initial claim payment, and no fee on anything the insurance company paid before you signed with us.

Who pays for the expert and other costs?

Our office advances the costs of the claim, including the independent estimator who inspects your property. Costs are repaid from the recovery. If there is no recovery, you owe nothing for costs.

Can I cash the check the insurance company already sent?

In most cases, yes. Cashing the first check does not give up your claim. If a check or letter says it is a “full and final” payment, or comes with a release, send it to us before you sign or deposit anything.

What if the insurance company calls me?

Once you sign with us, tell the caller you are represented and give them our contact information. If the company asks for a recorded statement, an inspection, documents, or an examination under oath, forward the request to us right away. Do not sign anything the insurance company sends you without sending it to us first.

Do I need a phone call before I sign?

No. The agreement and our explanation letter are written so you can decide on your own time. If something is still unclear, email your question with your name and property address in the subject line. Putting it in writing lets us answer accurately and keeps the answer in your file.

Can I change my mind after I sign?

Yes. For Florida claims, you receive the Statement of Client’s Rights, and you may cancel the agreement in writing within three business days of signing without owing a fee. You always decide whether to accept any settlement.

What if I already hired a public adjuster?

Tell us when you submit your claim. A different agreement is used when a public adjuster is involved, and we will need a copy of your public adjuster contract.

How long will my claim take?

It depends on how the insurance company responds, and no one can promise a timeline. Many claims resolve at the supplemental claim stage. We update clients by email as the claim moves forward.

Should I wait to see what the insurance company does?

Please do not wait long. Hurricane claims have deadlines, and they keep running while you decide. Until the Legal Services Agreement is signed by every client and by our office, we do not represent you and are not taking action on your claim.
